Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Successfully Hosts the GREAT Summer Program 2025: A Global Collaboration Toward Green and Sustainable Vocational Education
Bandung, August 2025 – Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), through the Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Education (FPTI), reaffirmed its role as an international hub for academic collaboration by successfully organizing the GREAT Summer Program 2025, under the theme “Greening TVET for Resilience, Empowerment, and AI Transformation.”
This international program received official endorsement from UNESCO-UNEVOC, the global center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) under UNESCO, which supports the strengthening of vocational education systems and skills development for inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
Dean of FPTI UPI, Dr. Eng. Agus Setiawan, M.Si., who also serves as the UNEVOC Centre Coordinator for Indonesia and Vice President of the Regional Association for Vocational Teacher Education in Asia (RAVTE), emphasized that this program reflects FPTI UPI’s strong commitment to advancing international collaboration in the field of TVET.
Meanwhile, the program chairperson, Dr. Mustika Nuramalia Handayani, who is also the Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Partnerships of FPTI, highlighted that the GREAT Summer Program is designed in line with the faculty’s commitment to developing green curriculum and promoting greening TVET in Indonesia.
“Through this program, we aim to encourage Indonesian and international students to be more prepared for the green transition and AI-driven digital transformation, while embedding sustainability values into curriculum and learning practices,” she stated.
The GREAT Summer Program 2025 took place from July 24 to August 7, 2025, adopting a blended learning format, with three online sessions and one on-site week held at UPI Bandung Campus, complemented by field trips and cultural experiences. The hybrid setup—conducted both onsite at Smartclass, 4th Floor, Building A, FPTI UPI, and virtually via Zoom—enabled wide international participation and interactive engagement.
The program featured a rich series of scientific discussions, workshops, cultural exchanges, and research collaborations, involving over 100 participants from various countries—comprising students from educational institutions, international organizations, and community networks.

The GREAT Summer Program 2025 aims to:
Promote environmentally conscious vocational education through green skills and design thinking.
Provide an international academic platform for cross-cultural collaboration among students and educators.
Equip participants with 21st-century competencies, particularly digital and AI-based learning and research skills.
Strengthen UPI’s commitment as a globally recognized university actively engaged in advancing sustainable TVET education.
By the end of the program, FPTI UPI successfully delivered an international academic forum that not only enriched participants’ perspectives but also strengthened global collaboration networks. Moving forward, UPI remains committed to continuing such initiatives as a tangible contribution to building adaptive, innovative, and globally competitive higher education.
