The 5th ISMEE 2025: Advancing International Collaboration in Materials Innovation and Clean Energy

Bandung, 11 November 2025 — Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), through a collaboration among the Study Programs of Electrical Engineering Education, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation and Robotics Engineering Education, and Renewable Energy Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Education (FPTI), successfully hosted The 5th International Symposium on Materials and Electrical Engineering (ISMEE) 2025. Held at the New Postgraduate Auditorium of UPI Bandung, the symposium served as a key platform for strengthening research, innovation, and global partnerships in advanced materials, electronics, and sustainable clean energy technologies.

With the theme “Advanced Materials and Electronics for Clean Energy Sustainability,” ISMEE 2025 convened academics, researchers, students, and industry practitioners from multiple countries. The forum fostered scientific exchange, highlighted emerging research directions, and encouraged interdisciplinary collaboration to accelerate the development of green and energy-efficient technologies.

This year’s symposium featured two prominent keynote speakers from Southeast Asia:

  • Prof. Dr. Ahmad Rifqi MD Zain, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)

  • Prof. Ir. Syarif Hidayat, M.T., Ph.D., Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB)

Both keynote speakers delivered strategic insights on material science innovation, clean energy applications, and opportunities for cross-country academic collaboration to support the global transition toward environmentally friendly technologies.

Committee Chair, Prof. Dr. Budi Mulyanti, M.Si., emphasized that ISMEE reflects UPI’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its international academic presence. With more than 90 scientific papers presented, all targeted for publication in IEEE Xplore (indexed by Scopus), ISMEE 2025 marks a significant milestone for FPTI UPI in enhancing Indonesia’s contribution to clean energy research, advanced material technology, and sustainable engineering education.

The enthusiasm of participants underscored the symposium’s role as an influential platform for exchanging ideas and building research networks that support technological advancement and environmental sustainability.

ISMEE 2025 also contributed to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy): through innovations in renewable and energy-efficient technologies;

  • SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure): through strengthened research capacity and global academic collaboration;

  • SDG 13 (Climate Action): by promoting low-carbon and sustainable engineering solutions;

  • SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): through international cooperation and multidisciplinary research initiatives.

As a faculty committed to vocational excellence and applied technology, FPTI UPI remains dedicated to strengthening international collaboration and fostering multidisciplinary research aligned with global sustainability needs.
