Wedang Ronde Purple Sweet Potato Makes Dini Maharani Students of Culinary Arts Education to Win Cooking Competition

The Wedang Ronde purple sweet potato in the CELERY (Create Your Healthy Recipes) Competition made by Dini Maharani, the owner of the @dinimaharanii Instagram account, won the third place at the regional level in the 1-minute cooking video competition held by the Nutrition and Nutrition Study Program at Binawan University Jakarta on the 5th until 17 October 2020.

Dini, as she is usually called, won this competitive competition through the Binawan Nutrition Fair 2020 competition, THIAMIN "Tips On Nutrition and Immunity", with the theme "Healthy Living in the Era of New Habits". Judging and winners are announced through the Binawan Nutrition Study Program Youtube channel at the Binawan Nutrition Fair 3 2020 event (24/10/20).

The girl who was born in Grobogan, March 21, 1999, is grateful and proud to be able to make achievements in the conditions during the pandemic. It turns out that ‘Work From Home’ does not close the possibility of making works by utilizing existing facilities at home (25/10/20).

"All of this is inseparable from the support of my parents, my supervisor Dr. Ai Mahmudatussa'adah, M.Si, UPI FPTK Food Management Education Study Program and my friends," she said.

The CELERY competition is a One Minute Craft competition where participants make dishes with certain terms and conditions. The CELERY competition takes the theme of Healthy Living in the Era of Adaptation to New Habits with the sub-theme of Local Cuisine Menu to Increase Body Immunity. Participants who participate are students, university students, and the general public who are individuals or groups, "she explained.

Dini previously won the 1st place in the Nutrition Mitra Keluarga Festival (Gimikafest) 2020 poster competition which was held by the Undergraduate Nutrition Study Program and Hima Gizi STIKES Mitra Keluarga Bekasi in September 2020.

"The committee gave a choice of the main ingredients, including spinach, purple sweet potato or snakehead fish. I chose purple sweet potato and cooked it into wedang ronde which also refers to the theme" local cuisine menu to increase body immunity "which finally made me won the third place," he said.

Dini explained that the healthy preparations she made could increase the body's immunity. Wedang ronde, which is easily found in the Central Java or Jogjakarta area, is different from the usual wedang ronde, this time modified with purple sweet potato and almond filling.

Purple sweet potato is easy to find in the market and the price is affordable. Purple sweet potato is a functional food that contains anthocyanins to break down toxic compounds that can increase immunity and fitness. Antioxidants that arise due to antiocyanin stimulation are also able to ward off free radicals, so the immune system will increase. Vitamin E in almonds is the main ingredient for a healthy immune system. This dish is suitable for consumption, especially during a pandemic, because the hot and spicy flavour of ginger is very good at overcoming the decline in body resistance due to weather changes and viral infections, especially influenza, "she concluded.
